While starting your project you should always keep following points in mind:

1. What is the requirement of your project

     a. What dashboard is to be made,

     b. What charts are to be made.

c What transactional reports are to be created.

     d. What theme you have to use

     e. What are the alalysis points that you can create to benefit your customers in analysis.

2. What is the specific Data source.

3. What tables and specific fields you have to use in your application, as loading extra fields increases the size of application and thus reduces the performance.

4. The design of you data model.(Star schema is the best in performance)

5. Use of if statements should be minimized , instead you should create expressions using set analysis.

Hi Sunil,

- As a beginner, you have to damn sure about the requirement of your project.

- Keep minimum sync keys as possible, for that use Join to get the field into a single table.

- Try to build a star schema instead of Snow Flake.

- Don't use extra fields from the table that is no use for the Appl.

- Design appl. theme(Color used) in such a way that the focus is directly on the Data that is visualized from the charts you used rather than colors.

- Try to use colors in such a way that gives you a meaning,

for eg - If you'r application have data regarding Sales & Purchase. So use 1 color for Sale and another color for Purchase and it will replicate throughout your application, that make simple for the user to understand and your color automatically give some meaning to the end user.

- You have to understand, when to use a chart for a particular analysis.

- Use Set analysis instead of IF statement, it will help you to increase your performance.

- All function must be used in the Generators itself, for optimized QVD load in the main application.

- Most important, make a dashboard that covers whole application in a summarized way that will give user an overview of the application.

Hello,

For any new project, You must:

     1) Understand the requirements and find out the Key Performance Indicators.(Dimension and facts)

     2) Need to identify (as per requirements), which technology will be used for Data Warehousing.

     3) Planning and Designing the DW system is the most important step for any BI project.

     4) Need to use correct qlikview object(charts, graphs) for correct type of information.

     5) Try to utilize all the dashboard space with meaningful data.

     6) Rest everything can be done is in visualization. Create your own visualization scheme for a project.

     7) And offcourse, you can further make it better by improving its performance (as mentioned by other community members.)

Shortcut:

Hire a Qlikview Consultant, and he/she will take care of everything.

Thanks,

Angad
