Can i use same column on 2 listbox without association?

Hi All,

can anyone help me in using same column in 2 list box. The common problem is both the list box will have association but I want them to act independent. I don't want to use alternate states as I want both list box selection to be used in a chart.

Please suggest the method to achieve the same.

Yup you could....

In Document Properties create a Alternate State, Like State 1.

and in list box properties assign state 1 to list box2 , and default state to listbox1..\

The Alternate States will provide what you are looking for:

1) they are independant

2) you can use them in Charts

Moreover, with Set Analysis, you can mix the different alternates : take the FieldA in Alternate State A, and all other fields of Alternate State B

What would be chart state?

I need to pass the selection made from the list box as dimension to the chart. I'm referring to same column $field how can I differentiate this?

i did not get your idea, you want to use same field in two list boxes and want to take selection from both listboxes ?

for one chart..?

can you please explain why?

might be there is another way to do your task....

but without Alternate state, you cant ignore association between objects.

Hi PRajnaAlva,

I faced a similar issue. try to break down the column (vertically into multiple table with different field names) so can now do this or you can even do it directly by using alternate states
