topic Extensions in QlikView

Hi I am trying to incorporate extensions into a qlikview document however I have double clicked the qar file and it says it has been added but when i go into the qlikview document i have no idea where to go or what to do to incorporate the extension. Can anyone help please, also i read that extensions will only work in desktop mode, is this correct?

Dave,

This drove me insane; trying to get Extensions into a Desktop Qlikview app.

Assuming the .QAR has installed correctly (which is an issue in it's self) then it should be as simple as opening your dashboard or starting a new one then selecting the 'Web View' Icon; this is the crucial bit as Extensions only work via AJAX. Now Right Click on the background and select New Object; a dialog should pop up with the various standard Qlikview Chart types with a bar at the bottome showing 'Extension Objects' - click this and it should display all the installed Extensions...now for another unintuative step; you don't click the extension you want you have to drag and drop it onto the dashboard?? From there you can right-click>Properties as if it were a normal object.

Extensions will work on the server but they have to be deployed differently (no QAR's ) and again only work via AJAX.

Personally I hate Extensions; they have loads of potential but are about as esoteric as they come.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for the reply I had managed to work out how to insert the tree view into a page, but it just gave error messages so I gave up, as you mention they seem to be more hassle then they are worth.
