you can create s.th. like a cube in a qvd. but generally it´s just an own format that saves data. e.g. you could aggregate some data in an qvw and store it into a qvd. then in your actual analysis qvw you could only load the aggregated data to improve performance for example. on the other side you can just store raw data in qvd

In brief, cube is multidimensional data whereas, qvd is a two dimensional relational database and a proprietary format of qliktech.

It means qvd only hold data...

then where is the data model stored in application..

and when it will work as cube i.e. multidimensional data gathering??

Hi,

i would like to add that, QVD is simply nothing but the table just like the one created in Database.

So QVD can be a transactional table, aggregated table or a cube.

Cube - this is nothing but a table which has data at some aggregated level, but also contains the dimension as a part of the table. Disadvantage of this is, if you use this, you lost the opportunity to drill down to data beyond the limit of your cube.

So, if you dont use the Oracle Cube or any other database cube, you can create a data model in Qlikview application and then use the qlikview functionality at its best.
