Can you be more specific? Section Access will work as expected regardless of the CALs you have. Section Access is used to control authorization--i.e. whether a person is allowed to see an application and, if so, what parts. CALs get assigned once a user gets in.

Thanks for answering back. My specific question is since we are using

section access with User Name. When the user access the QVW file with a

session cal, not user specific does Qlikview still recognize the

security?

The short answer is "maybe." It depends on how your security is set up. Session CALs allow anonymous users, that's true, but they can also be used with authenticated users. You can control this through various settings in QEMC. If you want to prohibit anonymous users and you are using NTFS mode, then in QEMC \ System \ QlikView Servers \ Security, make sure "Prohibit Anonymous" is selected. But if you allow anonymous users and a user actually gets in that way, NTNAME won't work in section access. You can include certain section access "catchalls" (using * or null, depending on what you want to do) to accomodate anonymous users in section access.

I have it sent up to authenticated in QEMC and testing now using session

and usage cals. Thanks so much for your help.
