    <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;Good question if you are looking to optimize an application.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I'm not entirely sure how this works in the background, but at least the variables appear to change every time a selection is made and the variable is called upon in an active object.&amp;nbsp; Of course, variables can be nested and called upon by other variables.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;At least, I hope it works like that.&amp;nbsp; Otherwise, using a lot of variables would be very inefficient and I have not seen that to be the case.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Tell me if you see differently.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Karl&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;Hi all,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I needed to know at when all instances are the values of variables computed within an application.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;When all will a variable&amp;nbsp; get refreshed. &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Each time I open the app?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Each time I make a selection in the app?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Each time I access it using $(var)?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Please guide me on this.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Thanks&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;If you set a value to a variable this value doesn't change until something happens to change it:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;if you LET X=1;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;$(X) will always be 1 even if you close and reopen the document.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;If you want to change value use button for example.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Obviously if you have LET X=Today(); the value of X will be different on different days and will be updated every time you open the documet;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;hope it helps&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
