Selection causing grey X and refresh button

Hi, I have just started QV and encountered this weird behaviour:

whenever I select something in an object, the object becomes greyed with an X and a refresh button like so:

Has anyone ever encountered this and knows how to solve it?

Does anyone know what can cause this behaviour?
I looked on the forum and there is one similar question with no answers.

Hi Nick,

Have your Qlikview datamodel (Qlikmart) is build and working fine?

Try reloading your application with fresh data and this problem should get resolved.

This behavior happens after a sucessfull reload of the data.

The database doesn't seem to the problem, I will continue to investigate this issue.

I fixed it!
The problem happens when your database contains an invalid foreing key.

In addition I found another bug in QlikView, if a mediator table is empty and the two mediated tables contain data, when these tables are loaded, the "script execution progress" does not return any errors but when you click done, you get the "failed to load data" error message.
