I heard that it recommends Star Schema and Snowflake Schema for better performance. I also heard that it can be own data model not necessarily the Star Schema and Snowflake Schema.

Can some one please share their knowledge on data modelling in qlikview?

Thanks,

Attitude

Hi At.

In qlikview, the recommendations on the data modeling aren't every the same.

For example, for an aplication, Linked tables would be better than Concatenated Linked Tables. In other cases, would be exactly opposite.

There are general recommendations, like remember that distinct and short values takes more resources than no distinct but heavy ones. In qlikview, for example in most cases, the concatenation o joined of Header and Body tabler works better that mantain both tables.

There several parameters that you must take on mind, and your modeling job would follow your proority:

- Staging time

- Data storage space

- Portability of the aplication

- Performance of the dashboard

- Objetive of the dashboard (analisis, reports, viewing, etc)

Thanks Sebestain! It was really helpful for me... I read somewhere that is recommends star schema and snow flake. Thats the reason I was asking this question.

Data modelling in qlikview is depends on the what business process you want to incorporate.

if you know the business process . its not tough in qlikview to implement it.
