You maybe confusing the dynamic update feature of QlikView 9 which allows an external function to push data updates (and inserts and deletions) into a loaded QlikView document based on some transactional updates in the underlying master data. This new feature is to allow a QlikView server hosted document to receive a stream of updates between scheduled reloads

e.g.

Your sales QVW is reloaded once every 4 hours. In between an external function can detect changes in the underlying order database and send inserts, updates and deletions into the sales QVW via the new dynamic update interface.

Dynamic update is done externally to the QVW (though the QVW has to be set to accept dynamic updates) and is not a part of the standard QV script language.

Modification in Document Properties, Server, Allow Data Dynamic Update.
