Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component

Hi Team,

I am facing a problem in Qlik server while data refreshment from Database.

Server Config: Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard

RAM: 224 GB

Processor: Intel(R) Xeon(R) v4 @1.70Ghz (16 core, logical processor 16)

Qlikview version: v12.20 Nov 2017 sr4

Almost 70 jobs are running every day (at a time max 3). Antivirus- Sophos is installed here with Qliktech recommended exclusion policy.(Qlik related folders)

Now, some files are failed randomly with following error-

(6/21/2021 7:42:10 AM) Error: The sourcedocument failed to reload.. Exception=System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80004005): Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component. || at QlikView.Doc.DoReload(Int32 _Mode, Boolean _Partial, Boolean _Debug) || at QVBWrapper.Document.Reload(ILogBucket i_LogBucket, Boolean i_MonitorQVBCPUUsage, Boolean i_Partial, Boolean i_ReadDocumentLog)

I have checked following things-

1) Multiple jobs at a time:- At a time max 3 jobs are running and same qvds are not reloaded at same time.

2) Antivirus- file excluded as per qlik suggesions-

3) Job failure type- for example, one job- 'Data.qvw' It takes 30 sec to merge 'A' Table and 'B' Table into 'AB' Table.

this job is taking 6 hour and failed/ Instantly failed after starting/ successfully ran 2 days and then failed 1 day, again successfully run etc. But from qlik desktop instance it is reloaded every time successfully.

Please suggest!

Hi Lucas,

I have checked there is no null value kind of things in that script. It is just concatenate 2 table into a single table.

Okay guys, so I was stuck too with this error. Did some analysis and it turns out that this happens when your bot is unable to find the required data or resource.
