Learning Qlikview need some pointers!!

Hi all I just joined an online class to learn Qlikview. The problem is the instructor is South Indian and I am not a native speaker as well andits really really hard to gather what he is getting at. I just have some questions regarding this software as I have no IT background at all. The first one is is SQL absolutely necessary for Qlikview? Also if I get the Job of a Qlikview developer what would my job entail?

I know the questions were a little too scattered but I am desperate here. Also, any resources to learn Qlikview would be nice. Also has any redditor made a video on Qlikview yet?
