If you mean that as in "Slice and dice", this refer to dynamically filtering data for analysis purposes. Slicing derives from extracting a slice from a data cube, I think. QV is a great tool for letting users slice and dice their data for analysis and data discovery.

To slice and dice is to break a body of information down into smaller parts or to examine it from different viewpoints so that you can understand it better. In cooking, you can slice a vegetable or other food or you can dice it (which means to break it down into small cubes).
Slice and dice refers to a strategy for segmenting, viewing and understanding data in a database. Users slices and dice by cutting a large segment of data into smaller parts, and repeating this process until arriving at the right level of detail for analysis. Slicing and dicing helps provide a closer view of data for analysis and presents data in new and diverse perspectives.

Slicing, in an OLAP world, means taking values for a single dimension to create a subset.

Dicing, on the other hand, means taking values for multiple dimensions to create a subcube.
