No, with SAP Connector you can only access Tables/Views. Now, if you write a "Z" program which submits your report then imports output list from memory and writes to a "Z" table, then you can read that "Z" table via SAP Connector into QV.

Hi QlikView masters,

I'm new in QlikView but our company has this BI Tools for several years. Since we have to migrate our ERP to SAP, so I have to migrate also our QlikView reporting to access the SAP database. I have read several article, the possible way is to install a SAP Connector in our QLikView environment.

I have installed the SAP 5.0 connector, before that I installed QlikView 8.5 Enterprise Edition to our Development Server. I also Installed .net Framework 2.0 and .net Framework 2.0 SP1 as the requirement. but unfortunately I don't have the SAP login WIndow to access the SAP Server after I click Connect.

Do you have any idea to resolve the problem, or is there any missing step of installation which is mandatory to be done? Since I'm new here, consider this question as my introduction in this community. Thanks in advance for the big help, I appreaciate it.

Hi Blueilham

It might be an idea to have .NET 3.0 or newer and you have to select the data source as SAPDSO (or SAPOLAP) before you hit the connect button to get the pop up sign-on box, once filled in this creates the conection string and then you can hit the DSO button (the 3rd button, script builder will change to DSO something) then you can go and find your ODS or cubes to extract from.

Regards
Greenee

I saw a demo of next version of SAP Connector coming in a month or so (I think April, or sometime close to it). Pretty smart. It can run the report in SAP and grab the result list, then you can parse it as you want before you do the actual load in QVW.

Nice work done by QV-SAP group, once again.

Not entirely correct. The latest versio of SAP Connector ffrom QV allows you to run any report in SAP and grab it's output as source of data for your QV application. The entire process gets triggered by reload button in QV application.

Dear Sunil,

This feature is introduced in Connector v 5.4. See enclosed screen-shot of 5.4 release notes. 🙂

Another enhancement I really love in this version is the parameter in the connection sctring where you can set a flag so all the initial date values '00000000' are converted to 'null' when extracted from SAP. Earlier, these values were stored as 00000000 screwing up the field format, and other logic. No need to say "if(ERDAT = '00000000', null(), ERDAT) as ERDAT. 🙂

Hope this helps.

Hi Jani,

If it's a report type program (type 1 in the program attribute) and throws a list output, you should be able to call via connector. Otherwise, as Sunil mentioned, you can create a simple "Z" program or an ABAP query to be able to pull that data into QV via QVC.
