I've never used qvp: links in a web browser so I can't comment on that bit

Maybe you could launch Qlikview desktop like below

C:\Program Files\QlikView\qv.exe qvp://domain\user@servername/Document.qvw

though for it to work from the browser you would probably need to create a custom protocol handler

see https://crodrigues.com/how-to-open-windows-desktop-applications-from-the-browser/

Migration Study - Qvp links in browser

Hello,

We are studying the migration to latest version of QlikView (12.70 SR2).
We had a look at known limitations and we found this:

"Qvp links can no longer be used in a browser
In previous versions, it has been possible to use links beginning with ‘qvp://’ to access QlikView files from a browser. This is no longer possible. Such links however still work when used by QlikView Desktop."

One of our Business Units has built a specific web portal for BI and they get access to their QV Apps using this protocol (qvp://).

Our first thought was: is there any replacement solution? Could we adapt our web portal or does it mean this potential migration would kill it?

Looking forward, it seems that we could use the url linked to the Access Point like :

http://qlikview.CUSTOMER.com/QvAJAXZfc/opendoc.htm?document=CUSTOMER%20it%5Cgovernancedashboard.qvw&lang=en-US&host=QVS%40svqlvgloapp01

This would allow a redirection from a custom web portal or a SharePoint site to the QlikView Access Point.

This would no longer be the qvp:// protocol but would be a workaround.

Can anybody confirm this? As well as its durability in version 12.70 please?
Of course if you see other tracks we are interested!

Thank you for your help

Regards
