Hello, the first point would sound normal, it depends on your use case but you usually want changes to be reflected for everyone accessing the document.

Could it be server 1 and server 2 have different settings or a discrepancy in the settings if they are part of a cluster, e.g have a look at the "Allow Only One Copy of Document in Memory" setting perhaps this is different on server 2 and server 1:

You can read about this from our help site:

I opened the qvw file on server 1 and made modifications such as adding a sheet.

And if you access the accesspoint browser from another PC and open the same qvw file, the modifications are reflected.

Is this normal or abnormal?

If you do the same on server 2, it will not be applied on other PCs.

What's the difference?

Hi @jtj02080208
When you say that you "opened the qvw file on server 1 and made modifications" do you mean using the Desktop Client, or on the AccessPoint itself?
When doing it in the Desktop Client, the modifications are stored within the document, which then needs to be reloaded in memory by the QVS.

When doing it in the Access Point, the new objects/sheets/etc. are "server objects" which are stored in the .Tshared file.

So, there might be some difference in how the servers are configured to handle things. Are the two servers part of a cluster, or are they completely independent?

"I opened and modified the qvw file on server 1" -> I did not reload the scheduled qvw file on the server and saved it with control+s.

Each server is used independently.

Hello @jtj02080208 ,

Thanks for posting. The first think I would be interested to understand is more context in this sentence:

"And if you access the accesspoint browser from another PC and open the same qvw file, the modifications are reflected."

What user is used to access the Access Point from the other PC? and is the change (adding a new sheet) reflected for all the users accessing such application on that access point.

Cheers!

Could this happen if a different user is used to access the access point from the PC?

I would not expect it as to modify the qvw on the server you can create server objects, but not modify the qvw per se for all users.

Also is not about the user who uses the pc to access the access point, but the user used to authenticated versus the Access Point.

UserA could use UserB's computer and still login as UserA.

Cheers!
