      <title>Leasing License to QlikView Desktop Client</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;We are having an issue where one of our new developers is getting the pop up message "the Qlikview document was created another QllikView Personal Edition ....".&amp;nbsp; We thought we had the correct steps documented on how to lease a license, but the steps are not working.&amp;nbsp; Any help is appreciated.&amp;nbsp; Here are the steps that we were given, many years ago&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Launch QlikView Desktop client&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;From the menu, go to&amp;nbsp; File -&amp;gt; Open in Server...&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Enter the address to QlikView Server using the qvp protocol (example: qvp:// nf-qlikserver)&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Hit Connect&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Open a document.&amp;nbsp; The license is now leased from the Qlikview Server&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Close and relaunch QlikView Desktop client. You should now be able to work with local documents and the client is fully licensed.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Do we not have him set up with the correct authority?&amp;nbsp; He continues to get the same warning messages even after taking these steps.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;We are on version 2017 SR8 12.20.20900.0&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Does he have a named user license assigned to him from QMC?&amp;nbsp; Can he open an app in access point?&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;It has been a long time since I did this, but in addition to&amp;nbsp;&lt;a href="https://community.qlik.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/146379"&gt;@stevejoyce&lt;/a&gt;&amp;nbsp; checks I think in the desktop app you need to set Default License Lease Server (URL) under Settings - User Preferences - Locations;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;span class="lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline" image-alt="20210826_1.png" style="width: 999px;"&gt;&lt;img src="https://community.qlik.com/t5/image/serverpage/image-id/60833iF5742D69FCBF5660/image-size/large?v=v2&amp;amp;px=999" role="button" title="20210826_1.png" alt="20210826_1.png" /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Cheers,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Chris.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Also note that the version you're running QV Nov. 2017, is no longer supported.&amp;nbsp; So if you need to contact Qlik Support for assistance, you'll need to be running a supported version.&amp;nbsp; Currently that is versions 12.40, 12.50, and 12.60.&lt;/P&gt;

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I was a miscommunication with a fellow employee, I thought we'd already assigned the developer a user CAL, and we hadn't.&amp;nbsp; We got the lease to work now.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;As for our version, we have an upgrade scheduled for this quarter for QlikView, the server, and NPrinting.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
