Not able access the document from access point

Hi All,

I have created a username which is used by entire department and is part of my active directory. Once they open the access point, they need to enter the above created username and password. After this step the app should open without any issues but sometimes it will ask me username and password again. Any idea what might be wrong.

I have assigned DOC CAL for the above username in the Documents CAL's tab.

It is may be because of multiple people accessing the same document?

hello

1st : if multiple users use the name CAL at the same time, the last one is winning and the others are fired out

2ns : do you heva access section enables ? you see this bow when you try to open an application without being declared in access section

Hi,

1. If multiple persons try to connect it will start reconnecting. But i am not able to open the document only.

2. Yes i have section access enabled and i have added this user in the sheet where i am managing the users.

id it well coded ?

i mean in the form domain\name ? no space at the beginning or at the end ?

did you take a look on qlik server's logs ?

is the licence always there ?

is the user always in the AD ?

has the passowrd expired of been modified ?

can you try to access QV with qv desktop using this user ?

It seems you are using Section Access with values for USERID & PASSWORD. This means you are using document security which will cause the login dialog to appear every time you open that document.

For USERID & PASSWORD, make sure that you enter them exactly as spelled in Section Access. Section Access and the login dialog will convert them both to upper case, so case is not important.

If you're wondering why you cannot use your AD security here, then use the NTNAME field instead. But NTNAME will enforce SSO so you won't be able to login as a different user if you already provided credentials to Windows.

Its asking for username and password. will this also be logged to log files. I am not sure, please let me know.

try to see here ;

C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\DirectoryServiceConnector\Log

C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\WebServer\Log

and try to search for your user

Here what i understand is your issue is, when you open document sometimes suddenly Qlik ask for Username/Password again what you entered to login. right?

if you have above issue than may be due to timeout or connection lost QV is trying to reconnect and then it is asking for user login again.

here what i assume is you are able to access application normally but only sometimes you are facing this issue.

-- I've configured the sign in option like below and once the users access, they need to provide the username and password. After that It will not ask any username and password and it will just open the document. But in my current situation, even after entering the login credentials, it is still asking me the username and password like the one attached in my initial post.

Initially it was working fine and only today i am facing this issue. Sometime it will just work fine. I am curious to know why sometimes i face this issue.

Two remarks:

The Login prompt in the screenshot in you OP only appears if you use USERID&PASSWORD fields in your section access. And they appear everytime you session is being closed. Maybe you won't get the dialog because your session is still open. You can do a test: open the document and then close it by clicking the icon in the top right corner. Then try to open your document again. Does the login prompt appear again?

Can you post the list of fields that you define in Section Access? Not the data, just the names of the fields or the LOAD statement.

Hi Peter, I am using the below fields in my excel sheet which is used to manage the section access.

ACCESS

USERID

PASSWORD

NTNAME

SECDIV

SECDEPOT

PROFILE

If i close the document by closing the session without closing the browser, it won't ask for username and password.

You talk about your current situation. Something you did makes your attempts to access fail? Or is it just that you want to get rid of the extraneous login dialogs? It shouldn't ask the user name and password once the user enters the credentials when they log in to access point. Currently it is asking username and password twice. That is my concern.

Well I can tell you this: you're trying to move a wall by repeatedly hitting it face on...

USERID & PASSWORD are what you could call "Document Security". That type of security is embedded in the document and nowhere else. It cannot be influenced from the outside. As a result it will not support Single Sign-On...

If you want Single Sign-On, use NTNAME and another authentication mechanism.

Also keep in mind that if you distribute a single license amongst more than one user;, you are in violation of your license agreement (and - sorry to say - vocal about it). A Document CAL is a Named license. You can switch to Usage CALs or Session CALs or another QlikView server type to eliminate that problem.
