We use Custom authentication for our Qlikview server and I was wondering if there is a setting somewhere that would require users to use strong password and not simple passwords, e.g combination of letters/numbers/caps/special charts as opposed to anything they like.

Please advise.

I think without a manipulation from the "change password" part maybe by wrapping it into a javascript check-routine which forced the user to a strong password there won't be a way.

As an alternatively you could remove the possibility for the user to change their password and keep the credentials central by the qv admins (I use these approach by simply replacing the link with another website which explained they have for this to contact the admin).

- Marcus

If you are doing custom authentication outside of the QV server, then you redirect user to a simple application which will validate password policy and allow user to modify.

If you are using custom directory, then in that case your directory component should be able to handle and it will be more appropriate to handle it there rather than in QV Server

Such a "password policy" functionality didn't exists within qlikview but you could disable the password change possibilty for the users or customize those part - see my answer from above.

- Marcus
