Sending Alerts on Task failure in QV Server

hi everyone,

I am configuring the QV server to send alerts on failure of tasks. I have configured SMTP settings & tested. I am able to send test mail.

But same this is not working when task failed ? Why , what could be the reason ?

I have provided email ids, where the error mails to be sent.

You need to configure in system->setup->distribution service-> alert email

Thanks for ur Quick reply. Distribution service is available only in Publisher.

I don't have publisher. It is only QV server SBE

Alert email for task failing is only available with Publisher.

There is option to send alerts ,

"If the reload of a document goes wrong, send a e-mail to these addresses"

System->Setup->Alerts

Hi Manoj,

That option is available in Qlikview Server, but it won't work. I tried earlier to setup this option in server but did not succeeded.

How do we configure alerts with out publisher ?

I can say it as a bug where I have configured the same i remember after a week it started sending mail alerts and m still not know y?

but yes that works and currently i am getting mails from my client server when ever that reload fails and they don't have publisher.

may be you need to work on some firewalls restriction policies

Not sure, after that I never tried it. I tried this in development server. May be Miguel Angel will help on this.

Best you can do is log a case with Support. If this is a bug or this is the expected behavior, the will let you know.

You are absolutely correct. My bad.

I got it setup here and it's working. However there is a limitation on it. It will not alert if you just press "Reload now". You need to save the a trigger on it. To verify, you can check the task xml file (default location C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\DistributionService\Tasks). In the root node of the task you should see a parameter SendAlertEmail with the value set to "True".
