Hi guys

I have been searching the community, but haven’t been able to find exactly what I’m looking for, so here goes:

I am maintaining a Qlikview (version 10) Server/Publisher setup for a client.

The customer is experiencing some performance problems on certain large app’s. I have spent some time analyzing the problem and I’m pretty sure that the performance problems are caused by lack of processing power. When running my test scenarios I see CPU usage of 95-100% nicely spread across the cores of the server.

(The underlying problem is that the app's contain some very complicated expressions - but due to very specific requirements from the customer, I have been unable to optimize as much as I would have liked).

Currently both Qlikview Server and Publisher is running on one IBM x3650 with 2 Intel Xeon 2.49 Ghz processors (E5402 = 4 cores each) and with 44 GB RAM.

The customer is planning to upgrade the hardware and has asked if the following setup would be useful (and if it would improve performance):

The new setup would consist of two HP ProLiant DL360 G7 with 2 Intel Xeon 2.4 Ghz processors (E5645 = 6 cores each) and 64 GB RAM.

Does any of you have experience with this server? How would you rate performance of the 2 setups?

Currently I have both Qlikview Server and Publisher on the same machine. As far as I can see, best practice is to split Server and Publisher between the two servers to balance load. But since I have most reloads running outside business hours, I was thinking about maybe running both Server and Publisher on both machines – to balance the load like that. Any experience doing this?

Is it correct that I can install Qlikview Server/Publisher on a cluster using a standard Enterprise license?

Thank you in advance

Hi,

I wold suggest you to increase your cpu cores

and its good practice to split server. Yes you can split without any sepcial License.

For ram and CPU have a look at below post.

http://community.qlik.com/message/455415#455415

http://community.qlik.com/message/455396#455396

For hosting QlikView server and publisher have a look at below post.

http://community.qlik.com/message/406678#406678

http://community.qlik.com/message/558093#558093

Regards

ASHFAQ

Much appreciated!

Just to clarify; do you suggest I get more processors, more cores or higher clock speed? Or all?

Is splitting QV Server and Publisher on the 2 servers the only way to go?

Best regards,

Hasse
