Qlikview License Key

we have purchased the Qlikview license through local distributor , but we have not yet received license key, since they have mentioned we will be able to connect our server and get the licensed version , and when my computer is removed from the server , the license version becomes personal edition

Please kindly advise on this issue

Hi,

You can lease license from QlikView server to you machine/ Laptop connected to the same domain as that of Qlikview server.

It remains for the next 30 days. It will be auto leased if connected in the same domain. or you have to lease it every 30 days.

if the license is purchased and applied in the QlikView server then you can lease the license from the server to your QlikView desktop installed in your local system as long as your local system is able to connect to the QlikView server.

To lease a license from a server you need to follow.

1. Your User ID/Windows ID to be assigned a Named User license in the server (admin folks can do it using QMC)

2. Open QlikView Desktop > Open in Server

3. Provide Address as qvp://DOMAIN\<USERID>@ServerhostName then click open

4. A message should display on the top saying that "you are currently leasing a license from server host"

Hi,

You are leasing a license for a Qlik Server and to keep the lease, the desktop application has to contact the server every 30 days. There are no separate license for desktop.

my concern is , they have directly updated the license key in the server, without sharing with us

if you are a developer and just need license then you really do not need to know the license details.

If you are QlikView admin then you must know the LEF and the license details because in case of events where you will lose the license key you may have to apply it in the server.

I think they might have shared the license detail with somebody from your organization.

Its your right to get licence key. Ask them to provide you Licence key with control number.

but unfortunately, admin does not have the license key. i need to check with them again

Hi,

You will need to check your service agreement with them to see what you have rights to. If you have a QV Admin in house and they have access to the QV server and QMC they can see the license.

if you Purchased a license you should have license key, if you purchased server license, qvserver leased 30 days license for your desktop.
