PDF Report Distribution

Hi everybody,

Who can tell if PDF Report Distribution can lauch reports according to an external flag?

Let's say a external process generates a flag and according to the value some reports have to be sent to users.

Can we have Report Distriubtion without Publisher ? (I mean Publisher module not the scheduler)

No, QlikView server don´t distribute documents, that is Publishers function.

i know this but precisely when you have QVS it holds a basic publisher (= scheduler).

If you buy Publisher (the full one which refreshes, distributes, reduces qvw) this is a separate module.

My question is : Does PDF Report Distribution can work with the basic version or do we have to buy it PLUS publisher to make it work which would be very expansive then ?

There are 3rd party bolt ons for QlikView that can schedule & distribute pdf's and also MS Office & html documents.

I use NPrinting by Vizubi, they have a web site describing their products which do not sting the wallet too much.

There are other products as well but I have no experience of them .

If your requirement is small you can use macro and send pdf reports.

thank you for your help.

I know it is possible to make it outside of PDF Report Distribution but the constraint is to use it.

So i just need to know if the publisher has to be bouught as well or if PDF Report Distribution can be used with the basic one.

Hi, Chris.

Unfortunately, unless you schedule a job like Vikas' example above then you will find it very difficult to automatically send out PDFs to a range of users without purchasing any additional software.

yes I had confirmation the Publisher is definitively needed to distribute PDF.

I never worked with PDF Report, so my understanding is

- PDF are built from embedded QlikView Report tool

- Instead of saving a file manually for each user i need, I use Publisher to do so and distribute it

Am I right ?

Yes, the PDF is built using a QlikView Report from within the QVW Application. You can generate and distribute the PDF files by email using Publisher or you can have them saved to a folder.

BTW, Yes, you need a Publisher license, PDF Report Distribution is an Add On to Publisher.

Hi, Chris.

QlikView Publisher with the PDF Distributor add-on can be used to distribute reports. It would be worth taking a look at other options in the market for distributing QlikView reports as you may be purchasing more than you need with Publisher - it depends on your requirements. If you go into Qlik Market, you will also see NPrinting and QVMail.

Hello Daniel,

I have Qlikview publisher licensed and trying to send pdf created within Qlikview app to email addresses using loop reduction.

I was able to get test email. But my distribute task is not running at all.

Any help is appreciated.
