Hi!

I've a problem, we are running a enviroment with Publisher 9 and Server 9 and its working flawlessly.

Now its time to upgrade (QV11) so we bought a new server for running the QVS and using another for the Distribution I've tried to distribute three Apps with the new enviroment and out of those two work.

The app that is failing is giving me "Error: Document open call failed. The document might require username and password." but when I look in the old enviroment there is no section access given the app.

Any suggestions what to do?

Is this a random event? Or does it occur every time the document is reloaded?

It happends every time i try to distribute the document (The reload is disabled right now just for testing)

Does the document log tell you any more information? The log you posted appears to be the task log.

My first thought is to check that the account running QVS and QDS has the authority to read/write in the source and target directories.

How do I see the document log?

The other documents that i've added is working fine so there shouldn't be a user problem nor?

Patrik,

You can turn on the document log using the document properties (desktop).

If the permission on this document is different, then you might experience this issue.

However, in reading through the task log, it appears that 15 seconds goes by before the error occurs...

Is this document running a macro? If so, the document log might be more informative...

Is the timeout (task trigger) set to 15 seconds? You might try the debug logging level for QDS (QMC/System/Setup/QDS/Settings for QDS/Logging Level)

Does this document have section access applied? If so the service account that the distribution service is running under has to be in section access as an admin.

Parallel Reload was introduced in QV10. I would try to disable the Parallel Reload and see if that corrects your problem.

Update: I redid the whole document with copy and paste to qv10 and then i tried it again without doing a reload.

This did work no problem, but when i reloaded the document (using desktop 10) and then putting it in the distribution folder again then it didnt work, same problem.

So something happends with the document after reload.

I haven't tried to reload it yet thru publisher since i haven't set up the odbc connections etc.

Any ideas?

The interessting part is that now it says document opened successfully etc.

So maybe i should try to put in all the connections just to see how it will react.

What does the document log show? It will fail if all the connectors are not in place.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the document log file doesnt give you anything if you dont reload it right? i am only distributing it.

It doesnt output a log without reloading the document, the only log that shows (without reload) is tasklog.log

I havn't talked to the support but I changed to "real" server since this was just a test and there it worked just fine.

So the problem was probably RAM(memory) related since this server has two times more the ram.

Hello Patrik,

I am facing the same issue. I am running more than 20 documents which completely(script,layout) same except one parameter.All run fine except two documnets. I am running all these documents in Server (which have publisher).

For these two documents i am getting same error. RAM shouldn't be the issue.

When i run these document manually it ask me for system permission. Once i provide permission it runs fine but these documnets are every time failing in publisher.

Any help is appreciated!!!
