How to update Licenses on the server

I should update new Licenses to to my production server asap..!!

To update new License, the following is correct ?

PROD server--> QEMC--> System-->Licneses--> Publisher--> Pate the LEF.txt (as we dont have internet access on the servers) and serial number

For this do I need to have PROD QEMC access? and do I need to stop the Qlikview services while updating?

That's how I've done it on servers that don't have Internet access.

You don't need to stop the QVS service to apply the license.

This can be done from either the production QEMC or QMC.

Hello avantikat,

What is your Question exactly,

a) Do you want to update Server License or Publisher License?

b) Do you want internet Access for updating License Information ?

c) Do you want to stop Qlikview Services?

Answers:

a) Same procedure should follow as mentioned above you.

b) To get the LEF you want internet access in that or any one of system to get manually LEF.

c) Not required to stop Qlikview Services.

I don't have access to internet on the server, so will paste a LEF file over there.

I was not sure about the services, I mean do I need to stop it or not, but thanks for your reply on that.

Hi Avantikat,

Enter Serial Number, Control Key and paste the LEF if you already have it. Then click on apply license buttion, if it shows success then it's okay otherwise let us know the issue, we will help you out.

No need to stop services.

One more query, what is the difference between Server License & publisher License?

For providing various accesses to different users, do we need licenses on Publisher or on the server ?

Hi Avantikat,

Server License used for Accessing the applications over web and Publisher license for distribute that application to various users, Reduce the application based selection criteria(Like region, user..etc), sending mail to automatically to users and triggers can do. There are more useful features are there in Publisher.
