We have QLikview Server 12.20. We have users showing up in the Assigned Cals, even though they were not assigned a Named CAL.

Does anyone knows how is that happening?

Is it the dev server that you’ve noticed the users appearing ?

It all depends on your setup so I would check both to be safe.
I don’t know any other way a user can get their own CAL without being nominated one.

The only way this could happen outside of having Dynamic assignment checked would be syncing of the CalData.pgo files between the environments, or someone has a program using QMS APIs that is doing something possibly, but agree with Hopkinsc that there would have to be something strange going on if Dynamic assignment is not set in the environment.

About the only additional thing I could say is check the QVS Event logs of the environment where the unexpected assignments are occurring for any messages that may provide a clue, but you will need to have the QVS logging set to High Verbosity in the QMC settings for this to be useful.

Sorry I do not have anything better to offer, if you get further details, shout back, will keep an eye on things, and may be able to provide a better explanation if you do come up with more info. Oh, the only other thing would be if both environments are sharing the same Root Folder path in the QMC QVS settings, but that should be causing other issues if that were the case, but worth checking that too. That is the Folders tab settings in the QVS resource in QMC System Setup.

Regards,
Brett

12.00 (this release is no longer supported, but figured you might want to know what was new there to complete the chain:
https://help.qlik.com/en-US/qlikview/12.0/Content/Whats_New_in_QlikView.htm

Hopefully that will help you see all the changes you are going to encounter depending upon where you move to. Apologies again Hopkinsc, feel badly I keep doing this to you, no hard feelings I hope.
