how to add excel file into existing data model

Deal All,

I have one application the data model is already build but now i want to add one more excel file to that, So I have added it successfully but my target fields is not associate with financial year and other fields which is present in data model.

First you need to understand the relationship between the existing datamodel and the new excel file. Then based on the business requirement need to link the data in excel with the existing datamodel.

Hi Leni,

I have common field in target.xls that is region ,country ,Business Segment on the basis of that I have link region to Div_Region in master tab.

Is there is need to create link key ?

As I understand you want to connect Targets.xls to DIM_Division_Region table.

Tables only connect between if they have the same key.

The same applies to your data model.

For example:

Also, you'll get the right answer only if the Region names are same in both tables.

Hi ,

You can create a QVD with that Target Table and call like this,(By Renaming Fields as per your requirement)

DIM_Division_Region:
LOAD 
    // Div_Code, 
     Div_Name, 
     Div_Region,
     if(Div_Region = 0,1,if(ISNULL(Div_Region) OR LEN(Div_Region)=0,1,0)) AS IsMissingProductGrp
FROM
[..\Excels\PNO\Division-Region-Tagging-Template.xls]
(biff, embedded labels, table is [Sheet1$]);

Target:
LOAD Targets,
[Business Segment], 
HOD, 
Region as Div_Region, 
Country
[QVD];

What is meant by partial reload? What is its use? Please explain!

That is not my requirement,

now I link Div_Region to Target : Div_Region

but when I select quarter filed the data not coming for quarter.

From which table, quarter field is taken and what is the link between the target excel and the table in which quarter field is available?

quarter is coming from MasterCalendar but still there is no link between target excel and master calendar. but in target excel month is filed is present .

Hi,

If your target field value is same as Financial Year value why not alias one or both field.
