Shared file and Meta file

What does the meta file and .shared file consists.?. Will they corrupt anytime. If any of them corrupt how would you correct them. What are the best practices you would follow not to corrupt them.

There's a chance of .shared file getting corrupted. We have faced this. As a best practice, these files need to be backed up every day or at-least at regular intervals. One reason of .shared file getting corrupted is because of the size of the shared file. You can still use Server Object Handler and see if a particular object/chart is corrupted and you can remove it.
