Ports used for communication between the Qlikview and microsoft SQL server ?

hi Guys,

Can any one make me understand whenever the communication happened between the qlikview and microsoft SQL trough ODBC/OLEDB which ports are get used ...i mean through which ports they get communicated...

Hi,

This should be the default SQL port of 1433.

i mean here exactly the scenario is , data base server (may be like public) is in another domain and qlikview environment is another domain ... what is the exact communication between them ...

Hi,

Normally, the communication would start on port 1433. I am sure SQL would be like a webserver and once communication is established it will move to a dynamic port. In setting up the ODBC connector you would need to input the login information to access the SQL server in another domain.

@bill my customer requesting to to set the static port for communication , is there any information about that....in detail , once communication is established it will move to a dynamic port right ... at here we can any set any static port ....?

HI,

The ODBC connector are not Qlik's and so this would be a question for Microsoft. However, I don't think you can do that. The SQL server answers (I think) only on one port to start the communication and then hands it off to a dynamic port.

thanks again bill, we have checked with client network team and it is up to them i think.

(here the situation is we have to access the data via internet , Microsoft automatically assigns dynamic port as you said.we are trying to open the specific port in firewall so that to communicate )
