Publisher install in different machine

Hi,

I have a machine(Machine Name A) where QV server and publisher is installed.

Now I want to install publisher in other machine(Machine B) and keep QV server as it is in Machine A and uninstall (If required) publisher from machine A.

That means publisher will run in machine B.

Please let me know the steps and configuration.

The simpler your question, the faster some suitable replies will be posted. This is a complex question, so much so that QlikTech has written a document about it.

That document contains the steps you're after and that you need to take in order to migrate QlikView to a two server machine.

I am not talking about migration. Publisher already installed with QS.

I want to installed Publisher into different machine(Machine B) and omit it from (Machine A).

We are working QV 10

1. Back up Machine A

2. Install Publisher on Machine B.

3. Migrate the Publisher setting (the QV11 Migration documentation will tell you what needs to be migrated from QV10)

4. Remove the Publisher license from Machine A

5. Uninstall Publisher form Machine A

6. Add the Publisher license to Machine B

7. Point Machine A to Machine B in the QMC

I am not talking about migration from 10 to 11.

I want to uninstall qlikview publisher from machine A and install it in machine B

I understand you are not wanting to do a migration from 10 to 11. However the migration documentation will tell you which files and folders in QV10 need to be copied over to you new QV10 environment.

Hi,

Easy to do. Install the Directory Service and Distribution Server on machine B. Tie them into the management service on Mache A then shutdown the Distribution Service on Machine A

Stop the Management service.

Update the "DistributionService.xml" and "QDSCluster.xml" files

Under the "C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\ManagementService\QVPR" location

will help in recognising the Publisher on a different server.

I'm looking at a similar issue here and the 'Upgrade and Migration' document is exactly what the OP needs. Note that 'Migrate' does not mean from version 10 to 11, it means migrate the QDS service from Machine A to Machine B just as the OP requested.

The document also shows how to change the server name hosting the migrated QDS service using the correct approach in QMC rather than editing xml files which runs the risk of making mistakes in your editing.

How to tie them into the management service .Under which settings path?
