Hello,

I have a QlikView document running 24/7 on a TV monitor displaying operational information using the IE Plugin. There is a script running every 30 minutes that restarts IE and re-opens the document to make sure it doesn't timeout, etc.

On the development server, every time the document is closed and opened the Sessions.log file shows an entry with the Exit Reason: "Socked closed by client" with the Session Duration being 30 minutes.

On the production server it shows an entry: "Session expired after idle time" with a Session Duration of 90 minutes.

As far as I can tell the settings are the same between the servers, and the document is identical.

Why would they behave differently?

Thanks,

-Ken

Edit: Both servers are running 64 bit, and Client Build Number: 11.0.11149.0

Different IE versions? Why don't you set the timeout to 0 so there is no need to restart IE?

That was my first thought, so I used the same computer on both servers and got the same result.

In the past I've tried setting the timout to 0, but I still seemed to get timeouts/disconnects. It is possible that the problem was hardware based. I also can't seem to set that on a document basis and would prefer not do it for the entire server.

Has anyone done something similiar and had better luck?

Thanks,

-Ken

There were a few issues that I was dealing with at the time, but I believe this particular one was caused by a firewall setting on the server.

Instead of the client connecting directly to the server, it had to route through the tunnel (QVSTunnel I think?). By updating the firewall rules the problem cleared up.

Let me know if this doesn't work for you - I'll check my notes to see if there was anything else.

-Ken
