Tip: Quick and dirty method to allow anonymous access to apps

I ran into the following problem when setting up a QV server. I was unable to allow anonymous users to see any applications, but all authenticated users were.

I couldn't find the solution on QlikCommunity either so I thought I'd share here.

First, go to the Management Console -> System ->Setup -> QlikView Servers-> Security. Click the button for "DMS authorization".

Next, go to Documents -> User Documents -> <name of the app> -> Authorization.

Click on the green + button, and set access to "All Users".

You have to do that for each and every app you want anonymous access to.

Good luck!

Keep in mind this is for a simple "sandbox" deployment. I don't speak for the proper way to do this with Server/Publisher, fancy enterprise deployments.

That works for DMS but for NTFS what should we do?

This will work unless you have Small Business Edition Server (Due to DMS authorization). I wonder if this also works in NTFS

You mean NTLM? Sorry I don't know. Try customer support.

Not sure but i think we have to assign privileges to IQVS_SERVERNAME user to the document folders when using NTFS Authorization

The equivalent using NTFS Authorization would be setting the file permissions to everyone:

Still be aware of the huge potential security risk (to let access to anyone who is able to reach that folder)

I can't think of any reason why your method would not be valid, Bill.

That is true! I tested this.

Anonymous can see the apps in the Access point if we set the the priveleges for IQVS_SERVERNAME user.
