Connected to server ok, Negotiations Timed Out

Hi,

I've this problem with Open in Server feature: if I'm inside the company Network (VPN) I can call via QlikView this address to lease a license: qvp://domain\user@my.machine.name and it works perfectly.

If I try to call out of company network the address qvp://my.machine.domain\user@my.machine.name it failed with an error of Negotiations Timed Out (see attachment).

I tried also with qvp://domain\user@my.machine.name (in the examples, domain is the internal name, my.machine.domain is the domain name view from external)

I don't understand if it is a problem due to firewall (or to the company network) or to configuration of QlikView Server 11.

Anyone can help me?

It looks like a very common and senseful configuration - inside the company and per vpn the access is allowed and access from outside is blocked.

I can be agreed, Marcus, but the Customer wants to be reachable from the external.

But what I want to know is: haw can I give access to external to lease a license? It's a QlikView Server configuration (i.e. is a problem of mine ) or a System/Firewall configuration (i.e. is a problem of the Customer and its IT office)?

If an access from outside could be make possible will depend from your system-environment. If your server runs with a company-internal ip-address there isn't any chance for a outside access. If it's an external ip it's a matter from firewall, ports and group policies and if you want to change these configurations you will have a quite unpleasant conflict with your IT.

What speaks against the vpn solution for these external persons? It's quite usual.

Alternatively you could use several server-environments and used one as "public" server. There are a special licence-type for such an approach but I think this will be too heavy for your aim.

The server has services visible from outside (i.e. Access Point, or php procedure on 8090 port).

VPN is already used, but not by all the users, because the customer thinks that is a problem source for some users have a VPN (and support them every time).

Perhaps it's a tunnelling problem, but I have Apache on that machine and I don't know if it's possible implements it.

Hi,

Your Network people would have to NAT port 4747 in the file wall to point to the QlikView Server. There way be another way with a couple of changes on the Client side.

To start you will need to change the below settings to point to your server.

Then login to Access Point

You will need to login

Then open a document.

Thanks to QlikView Partner Support I found a solution.

Calling the address qvp://domain\username@my.machine.name;http:<port>/<folder>/<mydocument.qvw>

I succeed in obtain a license from the server.

My port, in details, in 8088.

Hoping this will help and save sleepless nights 🙂
