QlikView CAL Clarification

Hi All,

I have doubt in QlikView Named Cal or Doc Cal,

We have EE Server, and what will be the impact of QlikView server, if name cal is being used by another user, and wanted to access the same name cal from another system.??

any idea about this scenario will be appreciated.

Hi Alok,

A named CAL is assigned to particular user and a Document CAL is assigned to particular document (.qvw file application/document)

In Named Cal a user can access any document as it is assigned to a unique and identified user who

may access as many QlikView documents as may reside on the server.

In Document Cal is assigned to a unique and identified user who may access only the one QlikView document to which the document CAL is assigned.

If the Named Cal is used by another users then automatically the previous session will terminate and the new user will get the access.

I am very much clear about Cal assigning part,

as you said

In my case it is happening the same but instead of session terminating, my QlikView Server Service are getting down why this is happening, do we need to do any extra settings for this or it is by default ??

It seems that somthing is wrong with your QVS service.

Can you please post the version number of your QlikView Server and the Events log or at least that part immediately preceding a service crash?

Dear Alok,

I really do not think there is any connection between this. Services might get down due to some other reasons.

Could you please restart your server and try once !!

My QVS Version is 11.20.11922.0 (x64) wind serv 2008 r 3

let me clarify you that there is no problem with QVS . i have already done many times restarted, but could not get resolved.

fyi. i have gone through the log file as well which indicated that is getting down due to name cal access.

Can not share the log file due to some security reasons.

but i am getting below message during Name cal Access conflict.

Killed because Named User Cal was needed from another client

and QlikView Server service are shutting down at same time.

Are you also using the same server license key on two machines?
