Convert Enterprise Server Licenses to Cluster

I have several Enterprise Server Licenses, but I would like to reorganize to a clustered architecture.

Is it possible to convert existing server license to clustered server licenses? Is there additional cost to do this.

Any information would be appreciated,

What do you mean with possible? Technically, you will get a different license / LEF.

All the rest is commercial negotiation.

Check with your sales team. I believe there is a license you need to purchase to enable a cluster of multiple server licenses.

Hi,

As far as I am aware (and from past experience), this should be simply a matter of asking your designated Qliktech (or partner) account manager.

Enterprise licences can be clustered - but instead of several you have now, you will end up with one licence with a line entry in your LEF for 'number of cluster nodes = n'

Standard practice is to set up (add) and configure all of your cluster nodes from one of the servers (on which you deploy the QMS.

Note: Publisher licences can also be clustered in a similar manner.

It is a matter of contacting Qliktech and putting in place the needful processes to migrate all of your enterprise servers to the proposed clustered set-up - there has been no additional cost (at least for any of the migrations I have been involved in so far).

I was successfully able to collapse 2 existing enterprise licenses into a single clustered license.

When you converted your QV enterprise server into clustering, did you have to apply for a new set CAL for all your users?

Hi @loocm,

If the only thing that changes in the LEF is that QVS clustering is enabled and the number of CALs doesn't change, then you shouldn't have to make any changes to Named or Document CAL assignments.

Thanks Chip. Currently I am running two enterprise QV servers. One server has 50 CALS and the other has 10 CALS. If I were to group all the CALS into a single cluster, are there any configuration changes that I need to do since each is linked to one server license?

Hi @loocm,

In my experience when the number of CALs change in the LEF, then the CAL assignments need to be redone.
