from a third party i will get a Windows Server 2008 enviroment using Citrix MPS 4. I imagine some login and than a WS2008 screen pops up. Like VMware. On that WS2008 image i need to install QV10.0 Server. This is a manual installation that needs to be done ones. So no need to make a package. So my question basicly... can i install QV10 server on MPS4 as if it was a normal install, or are there things to worry about? (besides performance)

Citrix migth be good for serving "low memory, low CPU portions" of QV Desktop (developer tool) to many users.

But QV server is a resource intensive, well, server process. It can be (mostly ) administered remotely from web based management console. What is the benefit of Citrix ?

-Alex

If you have remote access to the server I would use that route. You may need to create users and/or groups and you ceratainly need to install software. There is no benefit having QlikView server available through Citrix, as its management tools are web-based and only the QlikView administrator needs to access them. The server deploys applications by html

Hi!

We have citrix and it works fine with Qlikview. We have a Qlikview Server and two citrix Server with IE-plugin installed. We use port 4747 and not tunnel and it works fine. You need to install excel and printers correkt on cixtrix servers if your user use it.

There is more to it. Citrix is mainly a virtualisation system so that you can install applications in a central or cloud environment and access them remotely using a thin client at the delivery end.

Hence Kristofer's remark about Excel - you install Excel in the Citrix environment, then people access the central Excel using the Citrix thin client. Also, note Kristofer's setup has the QlikView IE Plugin installed in the Citrix environment, so it doesn't have to be installed on hundreds of PC's etc.

In your post you say 'can I install the server in a Citrix environment? or is it better to use remote access?' I thought you meant remote access other than Citrix - for example Remote Desktop. My point is that you don't need the application sharing capabilities of Citrix for the QlikView server.

Hi,

for those of you who have expeirence with IE plugin and Citrix, any ideas on the below?

We have recently installed IE plugin on our Citrix farm and this has gone fine, one annoyance we have found is, when an end user opens up the access point it will do the plugin install and will install on the server they are pointed to. Then when they access again and are pointed to a different server in the farm they have the same install come up again,

Is there anyway to do the install on the server the first time and have this mirror across the whole farm after that? so that the install for the end user is only ever done the once? Rather than having it pop up 20+ times?

Or is there some other configuration on the farm itself that would stop this happening?

thanks

Joe
