Check your Publisher LEF file (in QMC or on disk in C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\ManagementService\Publisher LEF\). If it contains an entry called NUMBER_OF_NS with a number greater than 1, you have a Clustered Publisher license. The number indicates the maximum number of Publisher nodes in your cluster.

If this entry is missing, then you can install only one Publisher with this license.

The Server Reference Manual contains a lot of information on this subject. See Chapter 18 Clustering QlikView Publisher

Best,

Peter

Its possible to cluster the QDS service also, but this doesn't sound like your deployment.

If a service/node is down try restarting it, and checking the QlikView and windows logs for a reason.

Worst case, this environment has reload tasks scheduled only on the node that is currently down. There is no real solution to this situation I think, except - as you pointed out - getting the inactive node back up again as soon as possible.

Correct?

Peter.

The best solution in your case is what peter.T already hinted at: move your publisher away from both QVS machines (if you don't have a publisher cluster license, only one of the publisher installations can be active anyway) to a separate server and go for a three-platform approach. Many performance issues in an enterprise environment are caused by running a publisher and a QVS on the same platform.

For a good explanation of reasons and advantages, see chapter 17 Clustering QlikView Servers in the Server Reference Manual.

Best,

Peter
