installing desktop version of expressor error

Hello

I am installing the desktop version expressor on my laptop. It is a Windows7 machine with enough ram and harddisk

I download the installer in my local machine and when i double click it, it shows the error.

What did i do wrong?

I also restarted my machine and had the expressor studio installed.

Hello alexpanjhc - this occurs when a network firewall, proxy or even a possible local firewall on your machine prevents the .exe program that is running from downloading the .msi installation file from the server.

The .exe program:

Checks for all the necessary pre-reqs (redistribution packs, frameworks, hot-fixes etc)
Downloads and installs them if necessary
Then it goes to the server and grabs the .msi installtion file to download and execute

Can you try another machine or disable your firewall (Windows or 3rd party) and try running the .exe again?

Hi Mike Thanks for replying.

I do not have right to stop the firewall and i do not have other machines that I can use.

I wonder how most people ran this .exe?

I'd assume most of them download it from work machine and their network will have to have a firewall.

Most users do not have the right to disble firewall.

Just curious.

Maybe something need to be done with this .exe file?

I will investigate over here an let you know. It depends on how strict the rules are per firewall installation. We have seen this from time to time, but most people are able to download and install successfully.

i tried to disable the firewall but i still have the same error.

do i need to restart after disabling the firewall?

Can you try running the .exe as Administrator - see the first two suggestion at this link:

Access the properties of the downloaded .exe file
Click Unblock
Click OK

Try running as Administrator

The installation starts to download the .msi file.

im still getting the same error.

but im able to get in a server with less stricted rules. so it looks it is installing in that server.

i think it is the firewall even if i disabled it.

I will try it at home.

Try maybe a ctrl+c on the error box and paste in notepad. Then get the link given and use it in your browser, at least you will see what is blocking you.

For my part, it was because my company use a proxy that download file instead of you, scan it, and let you get it if it is safe.

For the question "how do other people ?", they probably download from home, or from other sites, or they ask to friends or they don't. Please Qliktech, give direct link to resources...

I hear your concern and I am having engineering look at this. They are looking at packing the .msi file with the .exe file to avoid this issue in the future.

Hope this helps shed some light on how we MAY resolve this.
