topic Alternate States Question in QlikView

I need to be able to select unassociated data records for a report and am trying to use Alternate States to do this. I can set up two States and use two buttons with the Copy State Contents action to add the selections made in each State to the Default State. That works fine. But I need a more dynamic solution since my users may need to make lots of selections and it isn't practical to set up ten or twenty Alternate States and thier associated objects. I'd like to just use a single Alternate State with an action that appends the selections to the selections already in the Default State but the Copy State Contents action replaces the selections rather than adding to the selections already there. Any suggestions?
