How to create a financial period parameter?

Hi All

I have been tasked with creating a Income and Expenditure Report for finance but now my problem is when I try to run the report for my financial year the report uses the calendar year and I want it to use our financial year period which starts from April this year to March the following year (as an example)

How can I accomplish this? Someone once mentioned a Masterfile where you specify these financial periods.

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Thank you for the response it looks like it's is exactly what I need. But I am new in Qlikview so am having problems as to where this should be placed as I have 3 tabs, one for main, one for income and one for expenditures.
