That is the functionality of the dashboard. 🙂

I had kept a simple calculation with 'If condition', only to put my question across. I have a lengthier calculated dimension in my dashboard that I cannot get rid of.

Sagar,

Tha is not a bug. The behavior is natural for your data. if you remove 'Always One Selected Value' from radiobutton field, it would work. If you keep one value selected and try to select a single value from Customer, that would not work because for any selection in radiobutton all possible combination of customers are associated. So the scope of selection is contradictory there.

Hope this gives you an idea.

That is what I was trying to say. See, if you use the expression : if(radiobutton='All',Customer,Customer) as calculated dimension then, for radiobutton value 'All' all customer values are possible and displayed and similarly for 'Top3' all values (A, B, C, D, E, F) are possible. If you try to select one of them, the scope of the radiobutton field is expanded to both 'Top3' and 'All', but that is restricted by Always One Selected Value, so can't get selected both the values. And again the values of the calculated dimension is dependent on the radiobutton field so it gets calculated back to all possible values (kind of circular reference; so it can't reduce the data based on calculated field selection).

And how Jagan's solution work:

There the dimension is not calculated and doesn't depend on radiobutton values, hence there is no such circular reference unlike calculated field.

Thanks Tresesco, I understood the circular reference part. You are looking at incorrect file that Jagan has uploaded. Jagan's correct solution has a calculated dimension and also the 'Always one selected value' is checked and still row selection is working correctly, which is surprising.

Jagan'solution is a clever one ! The values of customer are being taken after aggregating using "=Aggr(If(Only(radiobutton) = 'All', Customer, if(Rank(Sum(Sales)) < 4, Customer)), Customer)" . With this, the generated customers are not like your earlier data. If you select 'Top3' here, you don't see all of the customers, rather restricted to top three values.

Hope this clarifies.
