Hi ,

I need to load data from an FTP site. I have a username and password which workes fine on a different FTP app but is not working on Qlikview. Please help.

Try this:

Load *

FROM ftp://User:Password@YourServer.com/abc.csv Password@YourServer.com/abc.csv (txt, codepage is 1252, embedded labels, delimiter is ';', no quotes);

Hi ,

I have done the same but did not work

[ftp://User:ABCD@10.10.10.192/var/XXX/reports/PPP.csv]

(txt, codepage is 1252, embedded labels, delimiter is ';', no quotes);

On the other FTP app where I tried this, I had to put port number too... I hope there is nothing to do with the port.

Yes, it could be a security issue - ports, firewall, group policies ... Try an access to your files per explorer and/or IE, then you knows.

Is there an option in QV where in I can metion the port number as well?

Yes you could: ftp://[user ID:password@]<host name>[:port]/[path name/]

But I think you would rather ask your IT to allow such connections.

Use the Wizard in the load script - bottom frame "Data From Files" and check the Use FTP box and then press the button of the data type you're looking to load.

t1:

Load * From

ftp://userID:password@YourServer/Path/File/Ext (Typ);

Thanks for the suggestion but I'm trying to create an autodownload from an ftp site from within my load script.

At the moment I managed to create a vb script that uses the Chilkat FTP Object and it seems to be working nicely. Ned to fine tune it abit ..

Ah - ok.

I've done something similar in the past, though I downloaded via an SSIS task on a schedule to a shared folder that QV scraped from.

For automatically loads from a ftp-source you don't need vbs - you could create loops with variable inside the load-script, but the ftp-protocoll is limited so it could be easier to use external vbs/batch-files per execute-statement.
