Hi,

We have a number of QVD files, created by a former employee 2 or 3 years ago. Within these QVD files, various fields have been concatenated/had logic applied, and then renamed as something else.

Unfortunately whilst I know there are tools out there, like QViewer, that will let me view the contents of a QVD file, I can't seem to find a tool that will let me see the actual design of the QVD file. I need to see the logic used to create the fields in the QVD file, not the resulting data.

Can someone enlighten me? Many thanks, Gavin

There will be a QVW File that would have been used to create teh QVD's. If you get hold of that file then that has all the logic you are lookign for.

thanks,

Rajesh Vaswani

Thanks Rajesh. The implication of your response is that if we don't have the original .qvw then it's not possible to view the design of the .qvd?

Thanks, Gavin

Hi Gavin,

Normally we take the qv generator to generate the qvd(for load optimization). After that we create the qvw file that will take the qvd.So mainly all logic is in your qvw file not qv generator. If u say it is in your qv generator then definetly you have because qv generator file for load latest data form database via odbc connection.

Thanks.

Narender
