Disadvantages?? Compared to which tool?

Every BI tool has its own pros and cons. Some are visible and some are found while working on the tool itself.

If you are not aware about best practices of the tool, then every small block would be considered as a disadvantage.

Also, with each new version of tool, things are made easy for us.

If you really want answer your question, you must compare QV with other BI tools available.

As Angad Singh said Every BI tool has its own pros and cons.

But when you compare Qlikview with other BI tools, Qlikview built on unique technology.

1. In-Memory Analytics.

2. Associative Query Language.

3. Consolidating relevant data from multiple sources into a single application.

4. You can answer as fast as you think.

5. Accessing, analyzing and capturing data from mobile devices

We can create MDX queries from the Cubes as well. QlikView has that feature.

In QV, there is no need of creating cubes but we can still connect to the Analysis service, Cubes and generate MDX Queries on those.

Hi Pavan,

There is a tool available for generating MDX queries which connects to your analysis service, Cubes and helps to generate the MDX queries. You cannot directly load the MDX query which you create in your SSAS as QV doesn't compile it.

Please download the tool below which helps you to connect to your cubes and generate MDX queries which you can paste in the edit script(Please check include load while generating the query).

It has the manual, follow the steps and paste the generated query in your edit script. It works fine.

Hi Ninhal,

We cannot call the MDX Queries directly, use can use the above tool which helps you to connect to your SSAS and generate MDX queries that can be understandable by QlikView. Paste the script that is generated from the tool and paste in the edit script which can access the MDX queries created.

So this is disadvantage of Qlikview because we need to install tool, if we go for tableau no need to install any tool direct access only, more ever please let me know one thing if we extract data from SSAS(multi dimensional data) it has data hierarchy format i hope you know well. when we extract data to Qlikview data visble hierarchy format in UI or need to do any scripting

Hi Ninhal,

The hierarchies will be maintained in Qlikview, no scripting is needed for that. You can use the same tool to view hierarchies as well.
