topic 32bit QVE, 64bit OS ODBC reload problem in QlikView

Hi,

Thanks to both of you for your reply. Oleg you r correct on the no more price difference. But our client is still using 7.52 version of QlikView. Will there current license work on QVE 7.52 64bit? Another problem is I don't have 64bit installer for QVE 7.52 anymore.

What we are thinking also is to install QV Dev 8.5 64bit on the 64bit machine. Since it is only for reloading, the updated qvw file will be copied to 7.52 QVS. We hope this will not create any issues.

Thanks, (appreciate it if you have some more suggestions)

Elbert

Hi guys, here is the situation;

QVE - ver 7.52 32bit

platform/OS - 2003 Server Standard 64bit

database - Oracle

ODBC used - 32bit

Problem: Schedule reload is not working. Its prompting the ODBC connection page. Here is what we observed; If we open the application by double clicking the qvw file, we are able to reload. However, if we open the QVE first then open the application we can not able to reload. It's prompting the ODBC connector page and we cannot insert the ODBC connection line on the script page.

It seems that the 64bit ODBC is being launch when the QVE is open first, which is the case when you do a command line syntax " /r " for reload in scheduler.

Please suggest solution. Thanks and regards,

Elbert

Elbert,

Is the ODBC connector page prompting only when the reload is in progress or always when your publisher service is running? We have got a similar problem, publisher won't reload but manually starting the reload works.. We do not get the ODBC connector pop-up though.

When we make progress I will let you know, I will follow this post..

Regards, Sander

Elbert,

could you possibly have another instance (perhaps 64-bit) of QVE installed, and that's what is being activated when you double-click the file?

I'm not sure I have an answer for you, but rather a question - if you have a 64-bit hardware and a 64-bit DB driver, why not simply use a 64-bit QVE? There is no more difference in price. Your license should be good for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions...

just a thought...

Oleg

Do you mean you have a 64 bits system and one database using a 32bit ODBC connection?

In this case you should install the 32bit ODBC driver ... and with windows scheduler you should reload the data, since your QVs is 64bit.

Other way is to install the QVs 32bit, but this is not really what you want since you have a 64bit server.

good luck

Anita
