same color in different charts

Hi,

I have got 4 charts and each one shows top 10 sales persons. I would like to use SAME COLOR for each sales person. for example, Joe should be Red in all 4 charts. There are potentially 4000 sales persons so I don't want to assign color to each of them, or do need to?

Same for products also. I would like Cereal A to be always blue() in ALL CHARTS.

thanks but it doesn't answer my question of assigning a specific color to each dimension though.

It's almost same. You need to assign some specific color for each sales person.

this can be done by inline or using excel file also.

you mean, assign a different color to each of the sales person at load time from a spreadsheet or table?

see the problem is top 10 sales persons could be different in each chart but i want to make sure that if JOE appears in ANY of the charts he should be shown in RED for example.

Manish's solution is the way to go if you want to be sure the colors stick...with small changes to fit your solution.

In your case assign the color through an expression in the load using autonumber techniques to fill the RGB values (0-255) based on the sales rep's name. Could also be done in excel of cause.

You might want to think about applying some logic to the coloring it in some way, since assigning 4000 random colors could potentially result in having a graph of 10 sales reps with quite similar colors.

I came across a post on Rob's blog, and it might be helpful in your solution. It handles both the need for unique colors for same dimension values, but also adds a transparency. You might use parts of it or just be inspired. Here it is: Qlikview Notes: A Color Trick
