* helps you to search specific string

Example:

*a - filters string begins with 'a'

*word*- search for particular string

a*- filters string ends with a

I think you got me wrong. First of all you probably have a typo

*a - ends with a

a* - begins with a....

But I want to find the words with "*" symbol inside. For example I have value like "15*3", where * means multiplication

I have field that contains names of pipes. Values consist of diameter and cross-section.

For example "6*15" means pipe with 6 diameter and 15 cross-section

Suppose I'm Searching Field Vale In Table

Eg():

Now I Want To Show Stud_Name "Kumar"

In Sql .....Where Stud_Name Like(% Kumar %)

In Qlik View ...... Where WildMatch(Stud_Name,'*Kumar*')

Result

ID Stud_Name

01 RamKumarNathan

02 RajKumar

03 PreamKumar

Now I Want To Show Stud_Name Start With R & K

In Qlik View ...... Where WildMatch(Stud_Name,'K*','R*')

Result

ID Stud_Name

01 Ram KumarNathan

02 Raj Kumar

04 Karthi Raj

Now I Want To Show Stud_Name End With R

In Qlik View ...... Where WildMatch(Stud_Name,'*R')

Result

Try searching for the star character using index().

index(your_field, '*') will return a number greater than zero if your_field does contain *.

index(your_field, '*') will return 0 if your_field does not contain *

I'm totally sure that it works, but this operation is for users, they should be able to search pipes with definite cross-section

Would a search object work for you? Limit it to the field you want to search and on the Presentation tab uncheck Include Excluded.

Star * is a wildcard in QlikView, You can change the * to a different character in the load script using replace.

This would allow you to store15x6 in QlikView which would be searchable, rather than 15*6 which is not searchable.

Just change '*' to 'x' in your script, pipes 6x15 better seems

If you set up a variable named * with the definition index(Values,'*') - note no equal sign at the front - you can then search for * with =$(*) !
