I'll try my best to explain you a scenario. Please let me know if you have questions.

Visualization plays a major role while analyzing the data. Not all kinds of visualization are available as native or built in to any BI product. Day by day new visualization types (chart types) are coming to market.

This is one of the best features of QlikView to have an option for those visualizations which are not inbuilt to the product.

Through extension objects one can use these third party created Visualizations in QlikView.

One of the example is Word Cloud or Tag Cloud. which is not available built in or native to QlikView however using WordCloud extension objects one can use it in QlikView Dashboards.

Word Cloud Object Extension

---------------------------------------------------------

25.1 :

Adding Extensions to QlikView Server

To run QlikView Extensions on a QlikView Server, the contents of the Extensions folder have to be copied from %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\QlikTech\QlikView\Extensions\Objects to the %ProgramData%\QlikTech\QlikViewServer\Extensions\Objects folder on the server.

If the path to the extensions is changed (for example, to a common place for all servers in a cluster), that path must be used instead. Note that the path set corresponds to %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\QlikTech\QlikView\Extensions (that is, it does not include \Objects).

---------------------------------------------------------

The above is what I read from the Qlikview Help file.

Really got confused... Are they(QlikTech) trying to tell that...first we need to install in a machine where client is installed.. and then we need to copy that folder into Qlikview server Host machine ?

Please help me..

Yes. If you want the Extension Object to be made available to users accessing the application through Access Point, you need to install them on the QlikView Server Host machine.

Thank you Martin..

But why Qliktech saying copy it from xxx.. what is the intention of mentioning copy it from some where ?

Are they trying to tell with the Assumption that the Extesion is first installed on a User machine.. and that needs to be replicated to the Server ?

I think this is the process.

You need to install the Extension Object in your local system while creating the QVW file. (to be done by Developer)

Once your development is done you need to copy the Extension Object in Application Server. (To be done by Admin who has access on the Server system)

Then the extension object visualization will work in Access Point
