topic Bar Chart in a Table in QlikView

No magic workaround that I'm aware of, just the ability to duplicate the effect with enough effort. I've created sparklines by overlaying a separate graph for every row on the table using set analysis to show the correct information. I've even created an entire fake table out of overlayed bar graphs, some with bars shown, some only showing the text labels or numeric amounts. They look and work great, but they were a lot of effort. I'm definitely looking forward to version 9 to make that sort of thing simpler.

Hi Folks

I'm wondering if it's possible to put a bar chart inside a straight table.

I have a very basic data set with company, product type, sales value.

I have a straight table which shows the company and the sum of sales, it also gives examples of guage charts showing the sales value as a % of the total. Now what I want to do is to provide a bar chart which breaks down the sales value by product type for each customer, obviously in a cell next to the customer.

Is this possible?

Cheers,

Nigel.

I don't think this is possible.

The only thing you can do is put the bar chart next to cell and adjust it "graphically" so it would look like it is inside the table or next to the cell.

(Paul Yeo beat me to it! But here's some more info...)

Nigel,

With QlikView 9, you will have the ability to add expressions in the form of bar charts and line charts to your straight tables. Here's a screenshot of what that looks like:

Is this what you're looking for? If you are a customer or partner, you can download the Version 9.0 Release Candidate from our Beta site. Go to http://community.qlik.com/content/qv9beta.aspx to sign up!

Thanks guys, I already knew I could do this in V9, just wondering if there was some magic workaround out there to enable it in V8.5, problem is that I would like this today, we probably wouldn't plan to move to V9 until the end of the year.

Cheers anyway,

Nigel.
