Alternate for On open Trigger

Hi All,

Can anyone please help me with any alternatives for on open triggers. These are not working in Ajax mode.

I have major and minor sub division of metrics.

say under metric "A" I have sub metrics 1,2,3,..

under metric "B" I have sub metrics 6,7,8,..

I have each and every sub metrics in different tabs.

Major metrics are selected from .Net portal.

I have set on open trigger to highlight the tab background. Which is not working since these tabs are not basically selected by the .net action.

All I want is an alternative for "on open" trigger. the order in which these sub metrics are show to user is random, we have also used section access to reduce data.
