Copy a container and its contents.... (any suggestion) ?

If you select a container and copy it. Only the container is copied but not the objects inside it. Is there any way to overcome it?

I usually remove the objects first, copy everything, and then put the objects back in the copied container.

My experience says that when you copy a container all object inside are copyed too but ... they have the same id of the original container so any change in the object in the second container will be applyed to the first container.

So:

Copy the container, remove all the object inside, change id of the objects finally compose again the container.

I tried and it copies all objects inside it.

what version of qlik you use.

I tried with 11.2 sr8

Ashfaq,

I use 11.2 sr5. If you have a copy of the object outside the container and copy the cotainer it works. But if you don't have this copy it does not. Could you confirm me that in 11.2 sr8 you copy container contens whitout have a exteranl copy of the objcets ?

I confirm its works

have a look at attached application.

May be you need to upgrage to latest version.

I sugges you to try this in some test machine by installing only qlikview desktop.

You are right. In the release notes of the version r8 this bug appears as corrected.

“44226 Plugin - Copying object from within a container object does not work”

I will to update my desktop installation.

I use massively container to distribute object when a design QV sheets. For this reason this issue was a saving time for me.

I have updated to 11.2 r8. If you copy containers among sheets in the same document it works. But unfortunately not it the destination is other document. it a step ahead but not the final solution.

I have noticed this.

Its not working in another document.

I tried. All the objects in the container are copied, but they are not really a copy like container (have different id), they are actually link of objects in the old container (have the same id). So it is still not possible to copy the container with copied objects in it, right?
